What will Jon Johnson do as Councilman?Jon Johnson knows the District E can bounce back better than ever and has developed a 10-point plan to ensure it happens: Crime – improve police training; open police stations; increase neighborhood patrols; and overhaul the juvenile criminal justice system to provide increased resources for counseling, restitution, rehabilitation, and education; Economic Development – aggressively work to return retail businesses to restore neighborhood conveniences and build entrepreneurial capacity in the local minority-owned businesses; Education - restore the community’s voice to the Recovery School District; Housing - Use Community Development Corporations to receive and redevelop Road Home properties to return properties to home ownership; Health Care – reopen Methodist Hospital - now; Environmental – create a Housing/Environmental Court to remove blight from our neighborhoods; Infrastructure – accelerate street and drainage repairs; Ethics – impose a "glass-pockets" standard on city officials and employees to guard against back-door dealing; Recreation – revigorate NORD and Joe Brown Park; Government Services – open a City Hall Annex in District E to enhance constituent services.
